If Wikipedia is to be believed, there’s a problem with Step 0: the Bank of the Russian Fed. characterized BitCoin as an illegal substitute for currency, as did the Russian Procurator-General’s Office–making it “Restricted” according to the all-knowing Wikipedia Article, versus “Legal” as it is in the United States. Allegedly, a law will be in effect by Spring of 2015 banning its exchange for actual money.

Sochi, as you point out, is in Russia. Barring some amazing trick to migrate it to the United States, which is apparently more lenient in its view of magical code money, that’s a problem. But logic hasn’t impeded the mighty titans of BitCoin in the past, apparently.

Where did this gif you used for this entry originally come from? It looks like it’s part of the same series the gif you showed for the “BTC as seen on TV” entry, since the character looks very much the same and is still using computers to make money. Was it from a promotional movie about e-commerce in the early days of the internet or something?
