Also, because it’s integrated into reddit, gilding a comment doesn’t add useless crap onto comment threads. I mean, most (good) subreddits agreed that low-effort comments like “yeah”, or “i agree”, are crap anyway. This is just a shitty low-effort comment with 18 cents attached.

At the very least, why not instead have the bitcointip bot take a PM of the form:

+bitcointip

and then have everything done without extra comments cluttering up everything.

Then again this doesn’t really get to the core of the problem: Upvotes don’t indicate quality content without good moderation and protection against reposting. In fact I seriously don’t get why bitcointip exists. Do they want to be able to tip Redditors (not a good idea to encourage quality content), or do they just wanna spam the word “bitcoin” around a lot?
